We are a private and exclusive lodge in Katmai National Park, Alaska. We lease over ten thousand acre's of private Native land exclusively for our guests. It has the highest concentration of Brown Bear in this World.

Big Ku Lodge is a place where you will encounter amazing moments with Bears and other Wildlife.

This is a rare chance to see Alaska Brown Bear up close. Many other species are present, including Caribou, Moose, Wolf, Arctic Fox, and a multitude of birds, especially Bald Eagles. We will fly you directly to the lodge with our private aircraft aircraft, directly from Anchorage. We are only 15 minutes from Brooks Falls, should you wish to see or take that classic shot of a Salmon jumping into a bears mouth.

Bears need to feast on anything they can find to survive the winter hibernation

The River, Streams and Creeks are all full of bright red salmon, spawning in very shallow water. This creates a feeding frenzy for the bears. This action takes place all day. If they are not on the streams , they will laying up on the Tundra resting with full bellies. You may see as many as 50 or more bears from one lookout point.There are endless opportunities to Photograph and view bears in all kinds of situations.

Big Ku Lodge is surrounded by 4.2 million acre's of National Park. It has the highest concentration of Brown Bear on earth. These bears are even more concentrated around Big Ku Lodge, because millions of salmon migrate into our waters, which provides Bears with a constant food source. With our vast open spaces you can see bears coming for miles. It is the perfect wilderness for Photography and Wildlife Viewing.

HOME BASE

Big Ku Lodge offers Bear viewing and wildlife photography directly form Anchorage. Day trips and multi days are available, from June to September. We provide space for a maximum of six guests. This insures you are provided personal attention and assistance to achieve all your goals. We are the only permanent structure on Kukaklek Lake, 18 by 6 mile lake, surrounded by the best bear feeding habitat in Katmai Park. There is constant Brown Bear activity all day in front of your cabin.
